Part 6 – The Assignment: Girls’ Psychology

Psychology class में professor ने announce किया —

“Dilshan, your topic for the assignment is ‘Girls’ Psychology.’”

पूरे class में हँसी की लहर दौड़ गई।
Dilshan awkwardly मुस्कुराया, और अपनी notebook में topic underline किया।

Lata (side seat से teasing tone में):
“Perfect! अब समझ में आएगा कि class में इतने notes क्यों बनाता है — girls को observe करने के लिए।”

Dilshan (grinning):
“Observation नहीं, inspiration के लिए।”

Professor:
“Make sure your examples are realistic.”

Dilshan ने half-smile दी, और सोचा —
“Realistic तो बहुत है… बस confidential है।”

शाम को courtyard में Dilshan अपनी notebook लेकर बैठा था।
Lata coffee cup लेकर आई, और बोली —

Lata:
“Assignment शुरू हुआ या overthinking?”

Dilshan:
“Overthinking ही शायद girls psychology का पहला chapter है।”

Lata (हँसते हुए):
“Wrong! Overthinking नहीं, emotional detailing कहते हैं।
Girls हर situation में meaning ढूँढती हैं…
क्योंकि उनके लिए feelings कभी plain नहीं होते।”

Dilshan:
“मतलब… वो हर gesture में story ढूँढती हैं?”

Lata (थोड़ा softly):
“हाँ।
कभी eye contact में honesty,
कभी reply delay में disappointment,
कभी silence में answer।”

Dilshan (scribbling):
“Girls notice silence too…”

Lata (smiling):
“Sometimes silence speaks louder than words।”

Dilshan उसकी तरफ देखता है — half amazed, half thoughtful।

Dilshan:
“तू तो खुद research paper लगती है।”

Lata:
“और तू field study कर रहा है।”

दोनों हँसते हैं — हवा में हल्का comfort महसूस होता है।

Library का peaceful corner।
Dilshan अपनी notebook खोलता है —
page पर लिखा है:
‘Observation No. 1: Girls are emotional thinkers.’

Lata:
“Wrong again. Girls are emotional processors.
हम emotion से सोचते नहीं, emotion से connect करते हैं।”

Dilshan:
“मतलब logic secondary है?”

Lata:
“Logic ज़रूरी है,
लेकिन emotion steering wheel पकड़ता है।
अगर किसी चीज़ में heart invest हो जाए —
तो reason पीछे बैठ जाता है।”

Dilshan (thinking):
“तो फिर heart की psychology समझना ही toughest chapter हुआ।”

Lata (हँसते हुए):
“Exactly! और यही reason है कि boys अक्सर confuse हो जाते हैं।”

Dilshan:
“और girls?”

Lata:
“Girls भी confuse होती हैं…
पर वो confusion को poetry बना देती हैं।”

Dilshan थोड़ा मुस्कुराया —
“और तू तो पूरी poetry है।”

Lata ने eye-roll किया, पर हल्का blush नहीं छिप सका।

Lata (playfully):
“Assignment में flirting मत डालना।”

Dilshan page पलटता है —
‘Observation No. 2: Girls hide pain behind humor.’

Lata थोड़ी देर चुप रही।
फिर softly बोली —

Lata:
“सही है… क्योंकि अगर हर दर्द दिखा देंगे,
तो लोग sympathy देंगे, understanding नहीं।”

Dilshan (seriously):
“तो jokes actually self-defense होते हैं?”

Lata:
“Exactly.
जैसे मैं मज़ाक में बहुत कुछ बोल देती हूँ…
कभी-कभी वो joke नहीं होता, बस comfort का तरीका होता है।”

Dilshan उसकी eyes में देखता है —
वो calm थी, पर अंदर कुछ unsaid भी था।

Dilshan (softly):
“तो शायद मैं अब समझने लगा हूँ… तेरे jokes में hidden meaning।”

Lata (half-smile):
“Good progress, Mr. Researcher।”

रात का समय।
Rooftop पर हवा चल रही थी, और दोनों assignment के points discuss कर रहे थे।

Lata:
“Observation No. 3 — Girls remember emotions more than words।”

Dilshan:
“मतलब अगर किसी ने कुछ गलत बोला,
तो words भूल सकती हैं, पर tone नहीं।”

Lata:
“Exactly.
कभी-कभी सिर्फ कैसे कहा गया वही सब कुछ define कर देता है।”

Dilshan (noting):
“Interesting… तो communication में psychology नहीं, energy भी होती है।”

Lata (smiling):
“अब तू समझदार बन रहा है।”

Dilshan (softly):
“शायद teacher inspiring है।”

Lata blush करती है, और teasingly बोली —
“Philosopher alert!”

Submission day आया।
Professor ने Dilshan का assignment पढ़ा और मुस्कुराए।

Professor:
“Impressive observations, Dilshan.
Seems like you had real conversations, not just research।”

Dilshan हल्का हँसा।
Lata side में खड़ी थी — उसकी eyes में silent pride थी।

Dilshan (internally):
“Girls’ psychology समझने की कोशिश में…
मैंने एक girl को महसूस करना सीख लिया।”

Lata (internally):
“Dilshan अब सिर्फ observer नहीं…
वो listener बन गया है।”

Class से बाहर निकलते हुए Lata बोली —
“Next assignment ‘Boys’ Psychology’ का होगा। तब मेरी बारी है।”

Dilshan (हँसते हुए):
“Good luck. हम simple नहीं, unpredictable होते हैं।”

Lata (playfully):
“Unpredictable नहीं, scared… बस feelings hide करने में pro।”

Dilshan ने उसकी तरफ देखा, मुस्कुराया —
“फिर तो तू already expert है।”

Lata हँस पड़ी।
Barish की कुछ बूंदें फिर से गिरने लगीं।

दोनों साथ चल रहे थे — books, coffee cups, और एक नई understanding के साथ।

Dilshan ने assignment पूरा किया,

पर उसके notes में psychology से ज़्यादा Lata के emotions थे।
अब friendship से आगे बढ़ती ये bond —
understanding की journey बन चुकी थी।
